Chairman's Report Graphic

I am pleased to note steady and continuous improvement in SCET over the current year. I have visited a number of schools and colleges during the year, and I am quite clear that not only does SCET have a unique role to fulfil, but is making strenuous efforts to meet and exceed the expectations of its customers. I have also been present at a number of public occasions where SCET?s professionalism has ensured that events run smoothly and as a result the public image of the organisation has been consolidated. I enjoyed immensely the Special Needs Exhibition and Seminar event in Edinburgh this year called ITSIN and I have attended all the public Keynote Lectures which SCET has organised with up to 400 people present to hear leading exponents of technology and education talk to teachers and lecturers and debate issues. These are very difficult events to get right, but SCET seems to have the right touch.

I have attempted to steer SCET along a customer focused course and I have asked the organisation to look very hard at itself and take action to improve all aspects of its product development and delivery. The first indications are that this is bearing fruit.

I enjoy my work with SCET and I am very proud to be associated with an organisation that is palpably effective and making its own contribution to the quality of learning and teaching in Scottish schools and the quality of training in industry and commerce.

As a businessman, I judge SCET by the highest standards . I expect it to compete in a tough market place and to do this fairly and effectively. I want it to produce new products and market them well in the education community. I want the organisation to deal effectively with enquiries, visitors and requests for information. In short, I want SCET to be the learning through technology organisation in Scotland and I am pleased to say that it has taken solid steps this year in that direction.
